Guided tours

We will meet in front of the Jewish Historical Museum, where I will give you an introduction to the history of the Jewish Communities before and after their arrival in Amsterdam.

The Portuguese Synagogue, its annex buildings and, not to forget, its Treasure Chambers will then be visited, where you will be seeing and told about part of the world-famous Ets Chaim Library. The many ceremonial objects shown there as well, will surprise you by their history, their age and beauty.

Other stops will be the Hollandsche Schouwburg (Dutch Theater), during the war the place where the Dutch Jews were forcibly gathered before deportation. It is now a Memorial.

The National Auschwitz Monument, the former Boys Orphanage, Baruch d’Espinoza, the Rembrandt House, the mysterious violinist, like many more features, won’t be forgotten.

On top of all this we might as well visit the Canal House with former Sukka of my friend Suzanne, who initiated and realized the “Shadow Canal”, a memorial for the deported families who lived opposite of this recently revealed monument.

My roots in Amsterdam have been traced back as far as early 17th century. If you are interested I’ll gladly share some typical Amsterdam/Jewish family anecdotes with you.

I am sure that, after our tour, you’ll be overwhelmed by what Amsterdam has to offer you. The feeling and the atmosphere will complete the experience.

My fee starts at € 60,00 per hour per group. Entrance fees on yours.
